科学系

科学

All science courses at 费什伯恩 use laboratories to stimulate interest among the younger students 和 to provide the older 学员 with every convenience possible. The 科学系 offers a coordinated, solid curriculum for college preparation. 科学 classes are offered at the basic 和 honors levels. Three science laboratories, containing the most modern laboratory equipment, are used by the physical science, 地球科学, 生物学, chemistry 和 honors science classes. These facilities offer complete lecture 和 laboratory space 和 are equipped with all safety requirements.

生命科学

生命科学 covers a variety of topics, including: the discussion of the nature of science; the structure 和 function of cells; heredity; 和, 进化. 除了, a foundation is established in 遗传学 和 DNA; the classification of organisms; 和, the ecology of plants 和 animals.

物理科学

Physical science is the study of matter 和 能源. Students frequently employ the use of the scientific method in h和s-on laboratories. Students are provided with numerous opportunities to conduct experiments 和 learn the proper procedures for reporting the results of their findings. 的研究
matter 和 能源 explores various areas of physical science: motion, 部队, 能源, 工作和机器, 电, 光磁, 声音, 镜子和镜片, the classification of matter, 和 properties of atoms 和 the periodic table, 在其他主题中.

地球科学

在本课程中, students learn that Earth science is a blend of many sciences including geology, 气象学, 海洋学, 和天文学. Students explore the processes that change our planet. The course includes an introduction to rocks 和 structures that formed millions of years ago as a result of many interactions among some of Earth’s systems. H和s-on laboratory experiments, including video 和 computer technologies, enhance this course with varied approaches to underst和ing our planet 和 its place in the universe.

生物学

The main objective of 生物学 is to give students a better underst和ing of the life forms that inhabit the earth 和 how they function, 开发, 彼此依赖. Learning why life exists as it does involves ecology, 进化, 生物化学, 分类, 植物学, 光合作用, 繁殖, 遗传学, 呼吸, human anatomy 和 physiology. 活动 used to reinforce the concepts taught include lab experiments, 以电脑为基础的活动, 特殊项目.

化学

The course involves the composition of matter 和 the changes it undergoes. Emphasis is placed on man’s control of his environment by controlling changes in matter. The course covers chemical formulas, equations, calculations, reactions 和 the elements. It concludes with an introduction to organic chemistry. 活动 used to reinforce the concepts taught include lab experiments, 以电脑为基础的活动 特殊项目. Prerequisites: Algebra I, 生物学.

物理

物理 is a study of 能源 和 the changes in 能源 forms associated with man’s control of environments through controlling changes in matter. The interactions of matter 和 能源 also include the specialized fields of mechanics, 声学, 光学, 热力学, 电磁, 原子, 天文学, 和生物识别技术. 活动 used to reinforce the concepts taught include lab experiments, 以电脑为基础的活动, 和 special individual projects. Prerequisites: Algebra II, 化学.

环境科学

This is an elective course that focuses on environmental issues such as air, water 和 l和 pollution 和 the proper use of the earth’s 资源. Students have the opportunity to do case studies on major environmental issues.

解剖学与生理学

The course is designed such that the students will get an underst和ing of the human body as a whole as well as how all of the different systems operate individually. Topics will be designed to build vocabulary 和 knowledge of:

  • How cells play a role in body organization;
  • How body organs interact in body systems; 和,
  • How body systems interact in the body as a whole.

Students will also engage in discussion 和 physical activities to observe 和 be aware of how different activities affect body systems.
